And Up We Go Again

Mon Nov 23, 2009, 7:44 PM
Happier journal!

Starting to get back into playing my bass more regularly. Hell, I might actually be willing to play a few riffs outside of my room. Myself and a couple mates (both guitarists) are planning on getting togeather when I get back from the fishing trip and just having a bit of a jam/muck around day. One has been playing for a few years and is now rhythm in a band, so he's entering a higher tier. The other is teaching himself, but is putting enough time in to be progressing leaps and bounds. I'm then pup in regards to both experience and practice, but it's not like I need to learn slap bass or anything (although I will one day).

The experienced mate can churn out just about anything, so I'd say he's an all rounder...who also has gotten Tetris down to an art lol. The other mate is focusing on more Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, etc. I've been bouncing between some punk, metal and rock (The Offspring, Arch Enemy, Rammstein, The Police and soon Black Sabbath). So we'll have some clashes, but meh.

I'm glad I chose bass though. The strings on guitars are fucking razors! I can see why guitarists when either playing a lot or are learning too much can have bleeding fingers. At least with a bass you only lose a few layers on skin over a larger area. Well, if sliding a bit and only on your fretting hand. Also the bass just looks so much more...real. I look at guitars and they're cool and all, but up close they can look a bit like a toy. I blame Guitar Hero, but I like GH so meh. At least with a bass it is bigger and longer. Kinda like me XD (ooh, immature sexual plug). But the frets, bloody hell! I'm gonna have to put a shit load of practice in before I can easily navigate the top three frets. They're so far apart from each other, urgh. But meh, at least they sound awesome.

Anyway, away from Telion. I've also worked out what kind of bass I'll be moving to when I eventually get a new one. Probably nothing but a pipe dream at the moment, but the ESP AX-104 is the way I'm planning on going. [link]

Another pleasant topic, fishing trip. Two days now! Hopefully we'll catch something lol. Since myself and Dad are lure fishing, we'll either catch something decent, or nothing. Or another sand crab...baby sand crab. I was luring and the little bugger grabbed onto my lure...I thought it was a bit of seaweed at first. Since he took on something of an epic proportion (in size comparison), I called him Ben Hurr. So yeah, hopefully some more photos as well during this trip. I need to get away from the ocean with my photography though, it's becoming too saturated with ocean shots. Heh, saturated. Get it? I've probably used the wrong word lol.

Anyways, that's it really. Well, except that I've found my The Offspring collection. Ah, decent punk. Haven't heard much of that lately.

I am myself, there is nothing more nor less that can be said.

I am nothing more than a hobby photographer who is not only short sighted, but partially colour blind with regards to the colours red and green. To date my equipment is lacking, but it gets the job done to a standard I am extremely happy about. In fact, I take pride in the performance of my equipment.

I consider faves to be positive compliments, so do not feel like you 'have' to comment on my submissions if you fave them (some people have been pressured to comment on faves with the work of other users, which I think is unfair). I believe that the support of each individual is as important as the masses, since the masses are made up of individuals. So if I do not thank you for a fave, I appologise for my rudeness, I must have missed it.

And a final note: use the "newest" DA search/browse tab, they need the support, not the "popular".

Aaron, thank you for the :+fav: on "Late Day on the Tomhanock". It is the first photo that I actually sold, and that was exciting :) I created a special matte for it, (appears like granite), framed it, and delivered it last Thursday. I had to wait until it stopped raining buckets before I could deliver - didn't want there to be any chance at all of it getting wet.

I'm going to try to spend some time catching up on everyone's work that I've missed over the last couple of months, and I'm sure I'll be adding many of yours to my collection

Hope you have a wonderful day. Oh, and my thoughts will be with you for your exams.

Firstly, sorry for the delay.

Congratulations, I bet you must've been over the moon with pride and joy :D With regards to my stuff, I don't think I've added much lately. Got a fishing trip late this month, so I should have some more seascapes. As much as I love landscapes, I just can't get away from the ocean lol. Not bad for someone who is amazing at the worst possible swimming technique: drowing. ;)

Regarding backlogs, urgh, I've got quite a backlog to get through. I noticed you've uploaded some more stuff, so I'll have to get to that asap. Unfortunately I work chronologically, so it might be a while. Hopefully not ;)

Thank you for your thoughts, hopefully they'll have helped with my exams. Generous marking please *crosses fingers*
